Family Self-Sufficiency Program
Low-income individuals often lack the education and/or skills necessary to secure and sustain employment. Many times, these individuals do not receive jobs because they cannot pass a pre-employment test, do not meet the educational eligibility criteria, or lack essential employment competency skills. The FSSP offers a comprehensive and holistic approach to services for entire families, empowering individuals to actively pursue a better life and secure employment that pays a living wage.
The FSSP encompasses the development of a specified case plan, tailored to each customer and designed to address barriers to self-sufficiency, such as employment and education. Additionally, this program teaches customers to generate more income and enables them to utilize their available resources and other financial assets more effectively. The FSSP also helps customers prepare for the General Educational Development (GED) exam, assists with enrollment and financial aid for vocational training or post-secondary education courses, provides assistance with transportation costs, and secures childcare for customers to enable them to complete job training. As the “War on Poverty” continues, NFCAA is committed to its mission by helping families produce outcomes and become self-sufficient, ending their dependence on outside assistance.
